Slowly, the reality of publication is coming home to me. I’ve been asked to write a biography and provide a head shot for the publisher’s website. I got the picture taken, but I’m still fiddling with the bio., which I plan to send off tomorrow.
.
I’ve been following a few writers from the online workshop, where I’m a member, and I’m learning about the business side of writing. Karla Brady, Doralynn Kennedy and Lisa Lipkind Leibow are novelists who are actively promoting their books. Gone are the days when a writer could rely on their publisher to market their work. I’ve come to the realization that visibility depends in part on what the writer does to publicize their novel.
.
I’ve started to read articles that focus on specific things that can be done to promote a book prior to publication. The range of activities that are possible on the internet boggles the mind. I’m also making note of the steps I can take to keep my books in the public eye once they’re published.
.
I’m looking forward to the process and the best thing is, with these enterprising ladies blazing a trail before me, there’s no need for me to reinvent the wheel. I’ll simply follow in their capable footsteps.

Well, I signed off on the contracts and mailed them back.
.
After that, I started messing about with Contraband again. Didn’t make much of any changes, mind you, because I’d edited it again in August.
.
Meantime, I’m working on Hardware. I feel like I can’t go any further with it, but I know I must go through this process one last time. Otherwise, it will bug me like a just-out-of-reach itch.

I decided to do that course I mentioned a couple of posts ago. It’s been interesting so far. I’ve gained some insights on the books of the Old Testament, but then that’s what it’s all about – growing more familiar with the Bible.
.
I’ve given up worrying about time and whether I’ll have enough of it. It’s enough for me to know that I’m making good use of what I do have. Speaking of which, I have an article to finish, so more anon…
Just got done with a humdinger of an edit. I suspect this isn’t the end and that I’ll be revisiting that manuscript again soon. Then there are the other projects crying for attention. I suspect that from here on in, I’ll have to be vigilant with my schedule. So many projects, too little time.
.
My priest spoke with me this morning on something that may go two years into the future. I’m thinking about it, and putting in some prayers too. because if I go down this road, I’ll be losing more time from my schedule. Still, anything done for God can’t be considered a loss, right?
.
On another note, I’d like to sign off on the contract this week. We’ll see how that goes.
